Speaker:

Hey everybody, are you having a great day?

Speaker:

Yes!

Speaker:

Oh no, you're not?

Speaker:

It's okay, I got you.

Speaker:

I'm Tif Loeffler.

Speaker:

Welcome to Positively Yours.

Speaker:

I'm going to share Tif's tips, techniques, and a little bit of magic

Speaker:

to help you up-level and have a great day every day.

Speaker:

Are you ready to get started?

Speaker:

Yeah!

Speaker:

Oh, you're not?

Speaker:

That's okay, I still got you.

Speaker:

Let's go.

Speaker:

Why?

Speaker:

Have you ever had a little kid ask you that?

Speaker:

Why?

Speaker:

And then you give them the answer.

Speaker:

But why?

Speaker:

Why?

Speaker:

Why?

Speaker:

Why?

Speaker:

Why is an excellent question.

Speaker:

Why would I care if I need to have a good day?

Speaker:

I'm a professional.

Speaker:

I'm very busy.

Speaker:

I just need to get through this day.

Speaker:

Oh, let me tell you, there are very big, deep, awesome reasons

Speaker:

why you need to care about why it's important to have a good day.

Speaker:

And I'm going to give you the number one reason.

Speaker:

Really, the only reason.

Speaker:

You woke up this morning.

Speaker:

There you go.

Speaker:

Out of all of the things that could have happened in the world, you made it.

Speaker:

You got there.

Speaker:

You opened your eyes, and it is a brand new day.

Speaker:

And now, you have the choice and the power to make decisions to have a great day.

Speaker:

Now, I know that's easier said than done.

Speaker:

Or is it?

Speaker:

There's a question.

Speaker:

Why does it always have to be difficult?

Speaker:

I love hyperbole in that once I say hyperbole, never, always, every single time.

Speaker:

Absolutely no time.

Speaker:

It's okay.

Speaker:

Would we have a good day?

Speaker:

Okay, that's okay.

Speaker:

When we have an okay day, that's good.

Speaker:

I'm talking about a great day.

Speaker:

I am talking about a day that just sings.

Speaker:

And on that note, we are going to start with my tips and techniques for having a great day.

Speaker:

Now, I am going to talk about this today for a little bit through the lens of business.

Speaker:

It's important for you to have a great day when you are working in your business.

Speaker:

You need to be working on your business, in your business.

Speaker:

Sure, around your business, but you have to be in business.

Speaker:

So, let's get to it.

Speaker:

And the first tip, there's going to be three.

Speaker:

I'm actually going to start with just an idea to get you to, if you want to close your eyes unless you're driving, please don't.

Speaker:

But just imagine there is a gate with a lock.

Speaker:

And if you could just get to the other side of that, things are happening, okay?

Speaker:

It's flowing.

Speaker:

You're in the zone.

Speaker:

You've got this.

Speaker:

But you need the key.

Speaker:

Guess what?

Speaker:

I got some surprising or maybe not surprising news for you.

Speaker:

The key is already in the lock.

Speaker:

You just have to turn it.

Speaker:

But once in a while, that key is a little difficult to turn.

Speaker:

I know how this is.

Speaker:

That's why I got you.

Speaker:

That's why we're going to start with, well, I have three keys in the key of C.

Speaker:

Today, we are going to first talk about our first key, which is consistency.

Speaker:

And that can be the bait of existence for many of us who, I don't even know how to say it, ADHD, neurodivergent.

Speaker:

We just like to be busy.

Speaker:

We're artistic.

Speaker:

We like to have spontaneity.

Speaker:

We like our freedom.

Speaker:

And we think, oh, scheduling, regular, day after day, that's just going to get me down.

Speaker:

You don't understand, Tiff.

Speaker:

I need my freedom.

Speaker:

I understand absolutely because how many days have I thought, no, I need my freedom.

Speaker:

I don't want to be tied down to something.

Speaker:

Well, that is different than the key of C.

Speaker:

For key equaling C for consistency.

Speaker:

We need to be consistent because we need to gather data.

Speaker:

Now, data doesn't have to be just facts and figures.

Speaker:

We're gathering data with adventures and experiences.

Speaker:

So for those of us in the right brain, I'm just trying to make sure that I hold both of our brains in the palms of my hands.

Speaker:

There's the left brain, which is very logical.

Speaker:

I've got to have facts, figures, numbers.

Speaker:

I need it.

Speaker:

I know you right now.

Speaker:

And the right brain is like, yeah, but I just want to be creative and I want to flow with things.

Speaker:

You can do that with consistency.

Speaker:

So if there is one top tip that I have for you to have a great day is for you to consistently schedule a great day.

Speaker:

Now, if you need help with that, well, maybe we could work together.

Speaker:

I would love to help you with that because I love helping people have a great day.

Speaker:

And consistency means different things to different people.

Speaker:

But I'll touch on just a couple of ideas to get you started.

Speaker:

When you wake up in the morning, it is nice to have a daily routine.

Speaker:

If you want to adjust the routine, you can do that.

Speaker:

If you want a different routine weekdays and weekends, I get that.

Speaker:

Maybe on Monday you need a little extra.

Speaker:

But I'm going to give a concrete example of how to have a great day by having a daily routine.

Speaker:

But I want to offer a caveat.

Speaker:

If once in a while life happens and you're not able to do that particular routine in a particular way, it's OK.

Speaker:

It really is.

Speaker:

I'm talking about creating a beautiful system of when you wake up in the morning, you start the day with something that sets the tone.

Speaker:

And for me, this summer, the summer of 2026, it is a daily walk with my youngest brother, Theron.

Speaker:

And I absolutely love it.

Speaker:

It's just we're out in nature.

Speaker:

We're talking.

Speaker:

Sure, we're together all the time.

Speaker:

But have you noticed you could be together with someone, but you don't communicate?

Speaker:

Now, that could be a C for another day.

Speaker:

But we're talking about consistency.

Speaker:

Every day we get up.

Speaker:

And here's what's wonderful.

Speaker:

Because I have this beautiful routine with someone that I love and care about, it makes it so much easier.

Speaker:

Not easy because I still have to get up, put on my shoes, put on my outfit.

Speaker:

Maybe it's too hot.

Speaker:

I might need a sunbrella because I'm a little sun sensitive.

Speaker:

Maybe I need an umbrella because, oh, it's raining.

Speaker:

I'm going to make sure I have the right shoes on.

Speaker:

There's just so many other things.

Speaker:

But I'm just giving you the example that when you have consistency in your day, it actually has some added benefits.

Speaker:

And I'll try to offer you a couple of reasons why.

Speaker:

We have a nervous system.

Speaker:

And when our nervous system gets cray-cray, it's really challenging to get through the day, much less have a great day.

Speaker:

And I am not an expert at the regulation of the nervous system.

Speaker:

But I can tell you a few things.

Speaker:

If you are continually living in a stressful state, it is not helpful for having a great day.

Speaker:

It's not good for your body.

Speaker:

It's not good for your mind.

Speaker:

It's not good for your heart.

Speaker:

And now I feel like I just really want to lean in and say, you deserve to have a great day that you're feeling in your body.

Speaker:

So I highly recommend for something consistent, you involve movement in your day.

Speaker:

Make sure once in a while you get up out of your chair.

Speaker:

If you're sitting down a lot, stretch.

Speaker:

We weren't made to be, just get up and walk around for a minute.

Speaker:

I'm a little tethered right now, so I can't do that.

Speaker:

But I hope you get, you can just do what you need to do for a minute.

Speaker:

Get up, walk around, maybe a couple of jumping jacks.

Speaker:

Ooh, try a push-up.

Speaker:

Why not?

Speaker:

It's your day.

Speaker:

So consistency.

Speaker:

Now, that's about physical movement in the morning.

Speaker:

I would also say it is very nice to have perhaps every, we could say weekday, but every day.

Speaker:

If you're in business, you understand this sometimes feels like 24-7.

Speaker:

You have a 15-minute window at the beginning and make sure, for example, I have a little timer here.

Speaker:

Can you just time yourself?

Speaker:

Also your phone.

Speaker:

I keep saying this and I love it because it's true.

Speaker:

This could be your greatest distraction or this could be your greatest asset for your business by setting timers.

Speaker:

15 minutes housekeeping, however that looks to you.

Speaker:

It's so essential to have special time put aside, but a specific amount of time.

Speaker:

I don't want you opening up your email and then two hours later, oh my gosh, what happened?

Speaker:

That's almost as bad as doom scrolling on your favorite social media for two hours.

Speaker:

Your time is precious.

Speaker:

You need to start treating yourself like the valuable person that you are.

Speaker:

So be consistent in how you structure your day.

Speaker:

And I love that I have gotten so many wonderful examples of how to structure my day.

Speaker:

And you know what?

Speaker:

Some of it is just a chunk of time saying this is tiff time.

Speaker:

Now I have a list of different things that I can do within that tiff time.

Speaker:

I have that time.

Speaker:

That's for me.

Speaker:

However you structure your day, please know that it's precious and you must guard it through your life.

Speaker:

Now I changed it.

Speaker:

I don't want it to be with your life.

Speaker:

Guard it with your life.

Speaker:

That just sounds so but guard it through your life.

Speaker:

Use your daily living as an example to yourself and others that you value your time.

Speaker:

I am being consistent with what I'm doing and consistency is what builds results.

Speaker:

It's wonderful when there's a fantastic spontaneous moment you're in.

Speaker:

I get that.

Speaker:

We all love that.

Speaker:

That moment or that event or that person.

Speaker:

Yes, it happens and we love it.

Speaker:

And also you have to be consistent.

Speaker:

And since I've talked about the beginning of the day, I would like to talk about the end of the day.

Speaker:

At the end of the day, isn't it interesting how you could plant the seed to have a great day the night before?

Speaker:

It can be as easy as just as you're going to sleep just saying, you know what?

Speaker:

Whatever today was is awesome.

Speaker:

I'm letting go of it all and I'm gonna wake up in the morning.

Speaker:

I'm gonna have a great day.

Speaker:

There you go.

Speaker:

Maybe you need to journal.

Speaker:

Maybe you need to talk to someone.

Speaker:

But planning for a great day the day before is wonderful.

Speaker:

And also some self-care.

Speaker:

I'm going to offer a self-care tip right now to make sure that you have water handy.

Speaker:

Because water is essential and I need a sip of water right now.

Speaker:

And if you consistently have a glass of water by you, then it's easier to take a sip of water and stay hydrated.

Speaker:

Now also, you need sleep.

Speaker:

I'm here to tell you.

Speaker:

We can all pretend.

Speaker:

It's a great story to say, I don't need any sleep.

Speaker:

I'm so into what I'm doing.

Speaker:

Or I've never gotten sleep before.

Speaker:

It's never going to happen.

Speaker:

Oops, we just went into hyperbole.

Speaker:

So why don't we just relax a little.

Speaker:

Give ourselves some self-care time at the end of the day.

Speaker:

To prepare for the next day.

Speaker:

To wind down.

Speaker:

To relax.

Speaker:

This is leading me into the second key of C.

Speaker:

Compassion.

Speaker:

Now I can talk about that in two worlds.

Speaker:

The world of outside your head and inside your head.

Speaker:

Let's start with the inside.

Speaker:

I want you to know.

Speaker:

That you are amazing.

Speaker:

Magnificent.

Speaker:

Tremendous.

Speaker:

And we don't give ourselves enough credit.

Speaker:

You might know of people who don't give themselves any credit.

Speaker:

And it's hard.

Speaker:

Because you look at them and you think, oh my gosh, you are so amazing.

Speaker:

I can't believe that either you're treating yourself this way.

Speaker:

You're letting other people treat you this way.

Speaker:

You're living a life that you don't love.

Speaker:

You're living a life that is harmful for you.

Speaker:

Why are you, you know, the compassion.

Speaker:

We sometimes can offer compassion to others.

Speaker:

And I love that.

Speaker:

And you know what?

Speaker:

I've heard people say, well, you can't offer compassion to others.

Speaker:

Unless you offer compassion to yourself.

Speaker:

Or, you know, you can't love others until you love yourself.

Speaker:

Yes and also.

Speaker:

What if.

Speaker:

It was more circular.

Speaker:

That start with loving yourself.

Speaker:

But then, yes, you also love other people.

Speaker:

But what if in loving other people in the compassion.

Speaker:

I'll get back to compassion.

Speaker:

Really understanding that people are going through things.

Speaker:

They are truly fighting battles that you don't know.

Speaker:

And.

Speaker:

They're also celebrating things you don't know.

Speaker:

And until you are able to see through the lens of compassion.

Speaker:

What people are going through in their daily lives.

Speaker:

It can be difficult to have compassion for ourselves.

Speaker:

But they both ring true.

Speaker:

At the same time.

Speaker:

Two things can be true at the same time.

Speaker:

Yes, you want to have compassion for other people.

Speaker:

When you are working in business with people.

Speaker:

It's not to let them walk over you.

Speaker:

It's not to be bullied.

Speaker:

We're going to be talking about that in our next KFC.

Speaker:

The final one.

Speaker:

Right now, I want you to think about.

Speaker:

A little kid.

Speaker:

Again, that little kid.

Speaker:

And they made a mistake.

Speaker:

And they feel so bad.

Speaker:

And which.

Speaker:

Part of this.

Speaker:

Do you think would be more effective saying to them?

Speaker:

You screwed up again.

Speaker:

God, what is wrong with you?

Speaker:

I can't believe this.

Speaker:

I told you everything.

Speaker:

It's just.

Speaker:

Or saying.

Speaker:

You know what?

Speaker:

That's okay.

Speaker:

I know you tried.

Speaker:

It's so frustrating, isn't it?

Speaker:

But I tell you what.

Speaker:

Why don't you just.

Speaker:

Just take a moment.

Speaker:

Just shake it out.

Speaker:

Oh, you're crying.

Speaker:

It's okay.

Speaker:

Just cry.

Speaker:

I got it.

Speaker:

I know.

Speaker:

Take a moment.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Do you want?

Speaker:

Do you want some help trying it again?

Speaker:

Or do you just want to try it again on your own?

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

Why is it that?

Speaker:

I feel pretty obvious.

Speaker:

It's pretty obvious to me.

Speaker:

The latter one.

Speaker:

Is the one you'd want to say to a little kid.

Speaker:

Why don't we say that to ourselves?

Speaker:

Why is it when I am trying so desperately to learn a new piece of technology.

Speaker:

And I can't do it.

Speaker:

And then I'm so freaking upset with myself.

Speaker:

And here comes that spin of.

Speaker:

Complete non-compassion.

Speaker:

Let's just put it that way.

Speaker:

You're a jerk.

Speaker:

You're an idiot.

Speaker:

I can't believe this.

Speaker:

You're never going to get.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

Right to hyperbole.

Speaker:

So maybe that could be a fun game.

Speaker:

Because I do love games.

Speaker:

And playing.

Speaker:

And what if the game was.

Speaker:

Every time you caught yourself in hyperbole.

Speaker:

You laugh.

Speaker:

You go.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

I'm never going to get this.

Speaker:

Oh.

Speaker:

I just got myself.

Speaker:

I just went to hyperbole town.

Speaker:

I don't want to go to hyperbole town.

Speaker:

I'll have to think of whatever village.

Speaker:

I want to go to.

Speaker:

That is marvelous.

Speaker:

And I'll think of a word.

Speaker:

And maybe I'll.

Speaker:

Create that.

Speaker:

Today.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

But for now.

Speaker:

No.

Speaker:

You don't want to go to hyperbole town.

Speaker:

It's bad.

Speaker:

It's bad.

Speaker:

What's really good.

Speaker:

Is when.

Speaker:

You develop.

Speaker:

And grow.

Speaker:

And nurture.

Speaker:

Your compassion.

Speaker:

Because.

Speaker:

Compassion.

Speaker:

Is strength.

Speaker:

I love the phrase.

Speaker:

Do not mistake.

Speaker:

My kindness.

Speaker:

For weakness.

Speaker:

Compassion.

Speaker:

Is a most.

Speaker:

Excellent thing.

Speaker:

We need to have more compassion.

Speaker:

In the world.

Speaker:

And again.

Speaker:

That doesn't mean.

Speaker:

That you let people.

Speaker:

Run your ragged.

Speaker:

Drain your energy.

Speaker:

Take advantage.

Speaker:

No.

Speaker:

No.

Speaker:

No.

Speaker:

Compassion means.

Speaker:

You understand.

Speaker:

Deeply.

Speaker:

That we're all going through.

Speaker:

Our lives.

Speaker:

As best we can.

Speaker:

And at any given moment.

Speaker:

There's going to be that.

Speaker:

Incredible serendipity.

Speaker:

Where you are.

Speaker:

With a client.

Speaker:

Or customer.

Speaker:

And you know.

Speaker:

You have exactly.

Speaker:

What they need.

Speaker:

And you are able to.

Speaker:

Compassionately.

Speaker:

Explain it.

Speaker:

Offer it.

Speaker:

And accept their decision.

Speaker:

Either way.

Speaker:

Which brings me.

Speaker:

To the third.

Speaker:

Key of C.

Speaker:

For today.

Speaker:

And that is.

Speaker:

Consent.

Speaker:

Now.

Speaker:

I bring this up.

Speaker:

Because this was recently.

Speaker:

Brought to my attention.

Speaker:

The word consent.

Speaker:

And.

Speaker:

It's not that.

Speaker:

I didn't know about.

Speaker:

Consent before.

Speaker:

It's just.

Speaker:

That word.

Speaker:

I finally understand.

Speaker:

Through the lens of business.

Speaker:

Why it is essential.

Speaker:

To.

Speaker:

Have consent.

Speaker:

As.

Speaker:

A thought in.

Speaker:

The forefront of.

Speaker:

How we.

Speaker:

Talk to people.

Speaker:

Because.

Speaker:

We need to offer.

Speaker:

Respect for ourselves.

Speaker:

We also need to offer.

Speaker:

Respect for other people.

Speaker:

We know we've got.

Speaker:

Great goods and services.

Speaker:

And when the fit is.

Speaker:

When we feel the fit is right.

Speaker:

And we've gotten the information.

Speaker:

And we truly feel we can help them.

Speaker:

Not from a place of.

Speaker:

Ooh, I'm going to get this client.

Speaker:

And get this money.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

Money's important.

Speaker:

A topic for another day.

Speaker:

Now I'm talking about the fact that.

Speaker:

You know.

Speaker:

That this is a right fit.

Speaker:

If it's a wrong fit.

Speaker:

You're just not going to make the offer.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

I get it.

Speaker:

But you're making an offer.

Speaker:

And you.

Speaker:

Have to understand.

Speaker:

And I will say it this deeply.

Speaker:

You have to understand.

Speaker:

That if people say no.

Speaker:

There is a reason.

Speaker:

And if they say yes.

Speaker:

There's also a reason.

Speaker:

That's great.

Speaker:

But.

Speaker:

I could very easily.

Speaker:

Turn this into a three hour podcast.

Speaker:

Just talking about.

Speaker:

How disgusting it is.

Speaker:

About the lack of consent.

Speaker:

Especially when it comes to relationships.

Speaker:

And how people take.

Speaker:

No, isn't really a no.

Speaker:

It could just be a yes.

Speaker:

And I'll just keep pushing.

Speaker:

And pushing and pushing.

Speaker:

Or maybe I'll just assault.

Speaker:

Yep.

Speaker:

I said it.

Speaker:

Nope.

Speaker:

I would.

Speaker:

I would offer us to understand.

Speaker:

That we need to honor.

Speaker:

People's decisions.

Speaker:

And I am going to talk about it.

Speaker:

For a few minutes.

Speaker:

Through the lens of business.

Speaker:

Let's say that someone says no.

Speaker:

It is perfectly.

Speaker:

All right for you.

Speaker:

I feel.

Speaker:

To inquire.

Speaker:

Oh.

Speaker:

May I ask why.

Speaker:

Now.

Speaker:

I didn't prepare.

Speaker:

This part of the podcast.

Speaker:

Perfectly.

Speaker:

I'm riffing a little bit.

Speaker:

So I'm going to go.

Speaker:

With the idea of.

Speaker:

Well, there was.

Speaker:

Once upon a time.

Speaker:

Where someone was offering me.

Speaker:

Something that sounded.

Speaker:

Really, really good.

Speaker:

And.

Speaker:

The answer was no.

Speaker:

It truly was a no.

Speaker:

For all the reasons.

Speaker:

But they just didn't take no.

Speaker:

For an answer.

Speaker:

And I.

Speaker:

In a moment of.

Speaker:

Incredible doubt.

Speaker:

And.

Speaker:

Fear.

Speaker:

Accepted their offer.

Speaker:

When I had no right to do so.

Speaker:

And I will tell you.

Speaker:

That was.

Speaker:

It's hard not to regret things.

Speaker:

So maybe I'm going to pause for a moment and say.

Speaker:

Have you ever had someone.

Speaker:

Push into something you didn't want or bully you.

Speaker:

Or.

Speaker:

Offer.

Speaker:

Practical punishment.

Speaker:

If you didn't.

Speaker:

Or say your life's going to be over.

Speaker:

Well, I got news for everybody.

Speaker:

I survived before your offer.

Speaker:

I'm surviving in this moment.

Speaker:

And I'll survive tomorrow.

Speaker:

But that's easier said than done in the moment.

Speaker:

Depending on if someone.

Speaker:

Has curated their communicative skills.

Speaker:

They know exactly how to push the buttons.

Speaker:

And it's all.

Speaker:

It's okay.

Speaker:

We all have our skills.

Speaker:

And actually, I think it's very good to be very clear.

Speaker:

And.

Speaker:

Very professional about how you're making an offer.

Speaker:

But.

Speaker:

And here's the but.

Speaker:

If someone says no, it's okay to offer.

Speaker:

May I ask why?

Speaker:

And they might say.

Speaker:

You know, time.

Speaker:

Money.

Speaker:

Family.

Speaker:

Whatever it is.

Speaker:

That could be the reason.

Speaker:

It could not be the reason.

Speaker:

But in order to have an incredible business relationship.

Speaker:

Whether you're.

Speaker:

Checking out at.

Speaker:

A drugstore counter.

Speaker:

Or you're at the mall.

Speaker:

And you're at a department store.

Speaker:

Or.

Speaker:

You're online purchasing.

Speaker:

Something that you saw that.
