How to Choose Joy and Have a Great Day

How to Choose Joy and Have a Great Day

What does it really mean to have a great day—and how can those individual days add up to a great life?

In this episode, Tif explores the power of being present, recognizing the small moments that bring joy, and choosing to actively participate in creating the life you want. She introduces the idea of “selfing”—caring for yourself with intention, respect, and love—not as selfishness, but as a foundation for showing up more fully for yourself and others.

From celebrating everyday wins to embracing kindness, connection, rest, and self-care, Tif reminds us that having a great day doesn’t require more time, more money, or perfect circumstances. It begins with recognizing your own power, staying present through both the highs and lows, and making conscious choices that bring more joy, connection, and possibility into your life—one day at a time.

Speaker:

Hey, everybody.

Speaker:

Are you having a great day?

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

Oh, no, you're not.

Speaker:

It's okay.

Speaker:

I got you.

Speaker:

I'm Tif Loeffler.

Speaker:

Welcome to Positively Yours.

Speaker:

I'm going to share Tif's tips, techniques, and

Speaker:

a little bit of magic to help you

Speaker:

up level and have a great day every

Speaker:

day.

Speaker:

Are you ready to get started?

Speaker:

Yeah!

Speaker:

Oh, you're not?

Speaker:

That's okay.

Speaker:

I still got you.

Speaker:

Let's go.

Speaker:

It is all well, fine, and good to

Speaker:

want to have a great day.

Speaker:

And also, where is this all going?

Speaker:

I love when I ask myself these questions,

Speaker:

and just in case you're also asking, I

Speaker:

would love to do my best to answer

Speaker:

that in this moment that we have.

Speaker:

I love that there are the concepts of

Speaker:

the internal and the external mind, and how

Speaker:

we grow up, and how we have our

Speaker:

experiences shape who we are today, and having

Speaker:

a great day in the present moment is

Speaker:

everything because we only have today.

Speaker:

But when I say we only have today

Speaker:

or we just have today, today is everything

Speaker:

because we're making a powerful choice to be

Speaker:

in it.

Speaker:

And that's what I love.

Speaker:

And we are actioning, and we are doing.

Speaker:

And if we need to relax a bit,

Speaker:

be a bit reflective.

Speaker:

Take a rest, take care of ourselves.

Speaker:

I would like to offer to have a

Speaker:

great day, to take a fabulous stand for

Speaker:

your greatness.

Speaker:

That is not selfish.

Speaker:

I like to call it selfing, just selfing,

Speaker:

selfing.

Speaker:

They're selfish.

Speaker:

They're selfless is where you give everything away,

Speaker:

all your power, all your resources, all your

Speaker:

energy, because someone else just decided you're making

Speaker:

the decisions.

Speaker:

And I call that selfing.

Speaker:

I know that some people say, oh, adulting

Speaker:

is so hard.

Speaker:

And then I think, yes, and also grown

Speaker:

-up being is super awesome because when you're

Speaker:

a grown-up, you feel like you can

Speaker:

make more decisions.

Speaker:

I will say randomly, you know what, if

Speaker:

I stop by the bakery and buy myself

Speaker:

a donut, yeah, I could do that.

Speaker:

Guess what?

Speaker:

I'm grown-upping.

Speaker:

That's I want it.

Speaker:

I got the, I got the funds.

Speaker:

I've got the transportation.

Speaker:

I have a few minutes and I'm hungry

Speaker:

for a donut.

Speaker:

Yay.

Speaker:

That's an example of I feel grown-upping

Speaker:

adulting in a fabulous way.

Speaker:

And once in a while, that's how I

Speaker:

have a great day saying to myself.

Speaker:

I'd like a donut today.

Speaker:

Thank you.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

So again, selfing, so I appreciate being able

Speaker:

to talk about that a bit.

Speaker:

I want you to think about self-care.

Speaker:

It's selfing.

Speaker:

Okay, and it's for you and what's best

Speaker:

for you is best for everyone because you're

Speaker:

coming from a place of integrity and a

Speaker:

grounded love for yourself that is not only

Speaker:

grounded on this beautiful planet that we're on

Speaker:

but it's also connected to the stars because

Speaker:

we're all stardust.

Speaker:

We came from stardust kind of amazing and

Speaker:

we're here living our lives.

Speaker:

And we have the rest of our lives

Speaker:

to live.

Speaker:

So this is where I'm so excited to

Speaker:

talk about the vision the vision of why

Speaker:

why is Tif always talking about it's important

Speaker:

to have a great day and I thought

Speaker:

about also why I say it's a great

Speaker:

day, you know, have a nice day have

Speaker:

a nice day.

Speaker:

I like that.

Speaker:

There are some some songs in movies and

Speaker:

television have a nice day doesn't always mean

Speaker:

have a nice day and I could tell

Speaker:

you to have a good day and good

Speaker:

is good, but is it great?

Speaker:

That's why I just think let's set the

Speaker:

standard for ourselves very high and also very

Speaker:

achievable.

Speaker:

We are here to have a great day

Speaker:

every day as best we can because we

Speaker:

are here to have a great life and

Speaker:

it starts with today.

Speaker:

You take it one day at a time.

Speaker:

And there are highs and there are lows

Speaker:

and the reason I've talked about the internal

Speaker:

and the external is simply because we have

Speaker:

days where we don't even know for having

Speaker:

a great day.

Speaker:

Am I having a great day?

Speaker:

I mean, I know I'm having parts of

Speaker:

a great day.

Speaker:

And for me just having a moment of

Speaker:

a great day recognizing it that is such

Speaker:

an easy wonderful flowing way of having a

Speaker:

great day.

Speaker:

Just remind myself, you know what I had

Speaker:

lunch with a friend today.

Speaker:

Oh, I got to talk to someone about

Speaker:

what I'm working on and a very excited

Speaker:

for me.

Speaker:

Even if they're not I'm excited for me.

Speaker:

That's awesome.

Speaker:

I remember that.

Speaker:

Oh, I took a walk today.

Speaker:

I was out in nature.

Speaker:

I saw wild animals because there's wild turkeys

Speaker:

that walk around and it's so fun to

Speaker:

see that I got to have a delicious

Speaker:

cup of coffee.

Speaker:

That was a carded cardamom.

Speaker:

I can say a cardamom vanilla latte and

Speaker:

I've never had one of those before and

Speaker:

it was super delicious.

Speaker:

That is a great day.

Speaker:

And then when you build upon all of

Speaker:

these that to me is how we start

Speaker:

to create that world vision of other people

Speaker:

having a great day when we can talk

Speaker:

about and celebrate all the wins any little

Speaker:

win is a win and there's a very

Speaker:

I feel without being able to scientifically talk

Speaker:

about it why it is important for us

Speaker:

to put more emphasis on the syllables of

Speaker:

having a great day.

Speaker:

Your brain is wired to.

Speaker:

Remember things that weren't so great in order

Speaker:

to not do them again fabulous and that

Speaker:

is okay.

Speaker:

That's a good thing and also let's expand

Speaker:

upon that and multiply it and how do

Speaker:

I say this just compounded by saying yes

Speaker:

and also when I consciously choose to recognize

Speaker:

that something is going great today and even

Speaker:

just take a moment to anchor just go

Speaker:

you know what I'm on this podcast right

Speaker:

now.

Speaker:

I am having a great day.

Speaker:

This is awesome.

Speaker:

Take a breath and just feel it.

Speaker:

In my body just right now feeling good.

Speaker:

I'm feeling great.

Speaker:

I'm feeling great.

Speaker:

See right there.

Speaker:

I could have just just right there.

Speaker:

I said, yeah, I'm feeling good.

Speaker:

Excellent.

Speaker:

It's good.

Speaker:

You can start there just start with I'm

Speaker:

feeling okay.

Speaker:

Feeling fine feeling good.

Speaker:

I'm feeling great.

Speaker:

I'm actually feeling great and then your body

Speaker:

and your mind synergistic and they think and

Speaker:

they feel she likes that and she wants

Speaker:

more of that than perhaps let's be open

Speaker:

to the possibility of more of that because

Speaker:

I will tell you it doesn't take much

Speaker:

I've seen it in others and in myself

Speaker:

that you can very quickly not have a

Speaker:

great day because you are either not recognizing

Speaker:

all the great things that are happening or

Speaker:

through any moment in time something will happen

Speaker:

and all of a sudden you're like what's

Speaker:

even happening to me?

Speaker:

Am I having a great day?

Speaker:

Maybe I'm not and that's not a good

Speaker:

thing or a great thing.

Speaker:

So what's great?

Speaker:

I'll tell you what a better world for

Speaker:

me is simply people recognizing that they have

Speaker:

the choice to make your date great when

Speaker:

people are feeling great more often than not

Speaker:

so I will say more often they are

Speaker:

they're happier.

Speaker:

They have a joy in their life and

Speaker:

joy doesn't mean that toxic positivity of the

Speaker:

sky's falling everything's great.

Speaker:

What joy means is you are feeling all

Speaker:

of it fully because you know that is

Speaker:

what you are here to do on this

Speaker:

planet and also that involves the happiness the

Speaker:

fun the whimsy and it's not just for

Speaker:

a certain tiny moment in time or certain

Speaker:

special occasions.

Speaker:

No, that's I'm feeling kind of a little

Speaker:

lightheaded right now.

Speaker:

It's so fun to think about people who

Speaker:

have joy in their lives who are having

Speaker:

a great day more often are healthier because

Speaker:

they're taking steps to create the world that

Speaker:

they want to live in for themselves by

Speaker:

getting enough sleep by moving their bodies by

Speaker:

eating delicious foods that are good for them

Speaker:

for resting for recreation for being with people

Speaker:

that they love for connecting that key of

Speaker:

C that connection and again kindness.

Speaker:

Kindness is not weakness.

Speaker:

Kindness is the most incredible strength that there

Speaker:

is because we are here for one of

Speaker:

two feelings.

Speaker:

We either feel into the fear or we

Speaker:

feel into the love and when you are

Speaker:

filled with love that is the most powerful

Speaker:

feeling and it expresses itself in many ways

Speaker:

including be kind to each other.

Speaker:

I could think of an example right now

Speaker:

of a that it just happened today a

Speaker:

kindness was exchanged.

Speaker:

I went to lunch with a friend and

Speaker:

I was a bit distracted and not only

Speaker:

did I leave my sunglasses on the counter.

Speaker:

I left my sweater on the counter and

Speaker:

I didn't even realize I forgot my sunglasses

Speaker:

till I got to the car and also

Speaker:

and I'm just going to share with you.

Speaker:

I realized I hadn't left a tip and

Speaker:

there is no way that I am going

Speaker:

to leave with I couldn't even leave out.

Speaker:

I just thought maybe I know I have

Speaker:

to go back not even thinking about the

Speaker:

sunglasses and I went back in and I

Speaker:

saw I want to clear my table.

Speaker:

I know they do it for me, but

Speaker:

they're busy.

Speaker:

I want to help them and I went

Speaker:

up to the counter and they have a

Speaker:

little tip jar and I put the tip

Speaker:

in there.

Speaker:

I'm so grateful that I remembered to do

Speaker:

that because I don't want to drive home

Speaker:

thinking and I thought wait, and I just

Speaker:

happen to ask, you know, I'm not sure

Speaker:

I might have left my sunglasses and sure

Speaker:

enough, they gave me my sunglasses and also

Speaker:

my sweater, which I totally forgot about and

Speaker:

I'm making this an example of a great

Speaker:

day and I said, oh, thank you so

Speaker:

much.

Speaker:

I gave them the opportunity to help me

Speaker:

have a great day and I'm so happy

Speaker:

that I was having a great day and

Speaker:

let them know that and I think that

Speaker:

that's just one tiny random example of we're

Speaker:

here on the earth to take care of

Speaker:

each other.

Speaker:

We're not here to do anything other.

Speaker:

We are here to have fun and get

Speaker:

things done and my vision is to do

Speaker:

my very best to help people recognize within

Speaker:

themselves that they have the power to make

Speaker:

the choices to have a great day.

Speaker:

I would love to tell you I have

Speaker:

all the answers.

Speaker:

I have many ideas.

Speaker:

I have visions.

Speaker:

I have support all over the place.

Speaker:

I am your cheerleader and also.

Speaker:

I am very humble to say I am

Speaker:

not the answer.

Speaker:

I can't tell you what to do or

Speaker:

how to do it much as I'd like

Speaker:

to at times.

Speaker:

I can simply be myself and you can

Speaker:

simply be yourself and together we create a

Speaker:

great day through that through living in joy

Speaker:

through having a great day by being us.

Speaker:

When I think about how I would like

Speaker:

the world to be, you know, if I

Speaker:

could wave the magic wand, but guess what?

Speaker:

I can wave the magic wand every day

Speaker:

by going out there and treating myself with

Speaker:

utmost care and confidence and respect and love

Speaker:

and being who I am.

Speaker:

You know what?

Speaker:

It's okay to be me.

Speaker:

It's okay to be you.

Speaker:

And also sometimes it's nice to have some

Speaker:

support and I think that's cool.

Speaker:

There are times where I have heard people

Speaker:

say, well, you don't want to say you

Speaker:

want to help people.

Speaker:

I get it.

Speaker:

Sometimes words can trigger us.

Speaker:

So whoever you're connecting with, please understand it's

Speaker:

okay to say to them.

Speaker:

If you said this, I it's kind of

Speaker:

I'm not quite sure what you mean about

Speaker:

that or maybe I'm feeling a little.

Speaker:

I understand that sometimes we're like, do I

Speaker:

really need help?

Speaker:

I don't know that I need help.

Speaker:

Why are you telling me I need help?

Speaker:

Is there something wrong with me?

Speaker:

Hey, there's everything right with you.

Speaker:

And also we have moments where I might

Speaker:

need a little extra and that's what I

Speaker:

love about helping supporting people.

Speaker:

There's a difference between supporting someone and enabling

Speaker:

them.

Speaker:

There's a difference between helping someone see how

Speaker:

they can truly help themselves or cater to

Speaker:

someone's.

Speaker:

A victim mode, a martyr mode.

Speaker:

We're all there at times.

Speaker:

I've been there, but that's not how to

Speaker:

have a great day.

Speaker:

That's giving away your power and you are

Speaker:

very powerful and power is excellent.

Speaker:

And I take the bold declaration that to

Speaker:

have a great day means you are powerful.

Speaker:

We have seen too many instances of people

Speaker:

who are not nice people.

Speaker:

I'm going to say they're complete jerks and

Speaker:

they're very powerful and you think great.

Speaker:

I become powerful then I'm a jerk.

Speaker:

I'm here to tell you that's not how

Speaker:

it works and I had a thought pop

Speaker:

in my head and I must also remind

Speaker:

you that time and money do not equate

Speaker:

freedom.

Speaker:

I just had to say that I know

Speaker:

you're like, where is this coming from tip?

Speaker:

That's kind of out of kind of what

Speaker:

here's what I mean.

Speaker:

It does not take a lot of time

Speaker:

or a lot of money or any of

Speaker:

either to have a great day.

Speaker:

And also you could have all the time

Speaker:

in the world and all the money in

Speaker:

the world.

Speaker:

And if you don't take your power.

Speaker:

It doesn't matter.

Speaker:

You could still have a completely awful day.

Speaker:

Those things do not equate a great day

Speaker:

and I wanted to bring that in just

Speaker:

to remind us that it's okay at any

Speaker:

given time to have that because people all

Speaker:

the time talk about well, when you have

Speaker:

the time and the money and the free,

Speaker:

you know, that equals the freedom the freedom.

Speaker:

I feel I'm going to be a bit

Speaker:

arrogant.

Speaker:

I admit and just say hey, I feel

Speaker:

that in order to have a great day

Speaker:

requires neither.

Speaker:

It simply requires that you take a powerful

Speaker:

stand to be in the present moment and

Speaker:

say I make a choice right now.

Speaker:

That's how you have a great day and

Speaker:

then guess what resources reveal themselves and you

Speaker:

are able to see how time which is

Speaker:

this interesting kind of constraint in our 3d

Speaker:

world that we're on this planet and money

Speaker:

that is simply in exchange for goods and

Speaker:

services can work with you rather than against

Speaker:

you and I'm all about working with people.

Speaker:

Okay, you know you can either you know,

Speaker:

the enemy friend thing.

Speaker:

I'm all about making friends.

Speaker:

Okay, I'm not here to do anything other

Speaker:

than make friends have fun and get things

Speaker:

done.

Speaker:

So that's where I want to talk in

Speaker:

a little bit about hey.

Speaker:

I am open for comments and conversation and

Speaker:

what I think is so cool is that

Speaker:

we're here on the inspired speakers Network platform

Speaker:

where if you are connected here or in

Speaker:

YouTube, you can make comments, which I think

Speaker:

is super cool.

Speaker:

And if you're not on a platform that

Speaker:

can do that and you would like to

Speaker:

then feel free to join us here because

Speaker:

I think and feel and know that having

Speaker:

well inspired conversations.

Speaker:

Speaking in an inspired way is quite a

Speaker:

lovely way to have a great day and

Speaker:

for a vision.

Speaker:

Of what a world looks like in which

Speaker:

people are having a great day is when

Speaker:

they do feel that they have the freedom

Speaker:

to say that because it's rooted in love

Speaker:

and we are here to connect with each

Speaker:

other and we are here to build upon

Speaker:

our experiences and our adventures life is an

Speaker:

adventure.

Speaker:

Sometimes the adventure can feel not great.

Speaker:

It can feel very sad or very hurtful.

Speaker:

It can make you feel sad or scared

Speaker:

or angry and I understand that that just

Speaker:

saying that I feel the weight of it.

Speaker:

And also there is always that possibility to

Speaker:

take a moment take a breath and say

Speaker:

I get it like right now is just

Speaker:

not feeling that great and also I can

Speaker:

take a breath.

Speaker:

I can take a moment.

Speaker:

And know that in this moment just right

Speaker:

at the moment, even if something tragic just

Speaker:

happened just okay that happened and right now

Speaker:

I'm taking a breath and it's okay and

Speaker:

from that beautiful moment that precious moment.

Speaker:

Okay, your brain says, okay, I get you

Speaker:

at this very moment.

Speaker:

But what about yeah, yeah, or what's gonna

Speaker:

okay.

Speaker:

Yeah, yeah right now just a moment.

Speaker:

I'm right here.

Speaker:

So I'm really happy and grateful and joyful

Speaker:

that I am creating a world for myself

Speaker:

and I am building things right now right

Speaker:

now.

Speaker:

The podcast was the first grand expression of

Speaker:

that vision for being here for people working

Speaker:

and playing with them to create a great

Speaker:

day and I love this podcast.

Speaker:

It's so much fun and I'm so looking

Speaker:

forward to all the wonderful people that I

Speaker:

will talk to and all of the grand

Speaker:

ideas and the amazing experiences and the fabulous

Speaker:

adventures to share and it just starts with

Speaker:

today.

Speaker:

Just having that moment inside of you that

Speaker:

says, you know what?

Speaker:

Today is a great day and it feels

Speaker:

great.
